Q from The Next Generation is a mischievous being who is part of the Q Continuum. He seems to be omnipotent. He has interest in humans, likes to be dramatic, but he can be quite dangerous at times. Overall, he has the humans' best interests at heart.

Does he compare to the bible's account of God. Could the Q continuum be the "other gods" that you could put before the biblical god?

Well, The simularitys are very close. In fact, in an episode, he does claim to be God. He certainly is God-like.

oh yes.
it has been done, there are few paralels.
but it was Gene rodenbury that makes the leap into mishevious personalities that die of boredom. it was on the star trek Voyager series where one !Q wanted to have the right to commit suicide.
but the follow up !Q story was even greater.

now i might be wrong that it was Gene rodenbury who wrote the script for Q suicide, but someone made the incorrect leap that All the angels of God are like either scenario painted.
for Adam as a created eternal being was able to Eat the forbidden fruit, so I believe All eternal beings have the RIGHT TO do So. but when they do! They suffer for the length of day that God has measured his days to equal. it took ADAM almost a thousand years to die. And im sure he wanted to scream at wife Eve many times and suffered many hardships as he watched his children turn toward Satan and Love satan more than God.
i think the person and rank of Q as a single entity fulfill the better descriptions of sons of God, or even less than that, he might be a wayward son of God who is a little above the angels.
in my understanding of the trinity and the godhead, the bible supports the godhead MORE. whereas the trinity is based upon tradition of what people believe is the nature of God.

God jesus and holy ghost are three different people. personages.
Angels are men who are become resurrected and resurrected sons of God are invited to Overcome all things and become saviours and creators with God in the thrones of the godhead.
Nothing is guaranteed, except to those that overcome allthings. and committing suicide is NOT overcoming.
realize what must happen before christ sat on Gods throne and was given all authority and power to rule over the earth?
it is written that jesus had to overcome death, which was the last enemy of God.
So, in my opinion, a man must KNOW how to create life and restore life even from a dead body. its called the resurrection.
god bless

i admire Q. i will admit, Voyager did sorta destroy the Q like they did the Borg, even though it become very spectacular staring on the character in TNG evolve from a mischievous and relatively sadistic prankster to a real benevolent protector determine by using his reviews with humanity. surely a number of megastar Trek's vivid moments.

Q is a degenerate version of "the Force"

Star Wars happened "a long time ago in a galaxy far far away"

While Star Trek is set in the future...

Therefore the Force, from lack of use by the trained, turned into a self conscious being, that in Trekkie terms tries to help people

Your description of Q does appear to fit the actions of God.

very interesting comparison.....I liken him to a Greek god in that the Greek gods were mischivious just like Q was in the show, furthermore the Greek gods definitely had their own interests in mind jaust like Q.

The Christian God is compassionate, loving, benevolent and desirous that we obtain immortality and eternal life.
The Q in Start Trek was self serving, indiscriminate, selfish. No comparison whatsoever in MHO

They're both fictional, so I wouldn't put any stock in either one.
