Depends when and why it run out. Normal car licences are generally valid until the day before the 70th birthday. The only time this is different is if there is a medical condition. If the licence has expired and a licence was just for a car then it can be renewed without taking another test with a D1 form from the post office. There should not be a fee but it could cost £19. If they have never had a photocard licence then they will need 1 photo and ID. There is a booklet that comes with the D1 called INF1D. You can also go on the website www.dvla.gov.uk. Alternativelyget the driver to call 0870 240 0009 (dvla), they will be able to locate the record even if it has expired and advise accordingly.

A drivers license shouldn't expire until a person is 70 years old whereupon it should be renewed every 3 years thereafter.

I find some difficulty with this question.
The British Driving Licence, following a successful test is valid up to age 70, depending on certain health factors.

Its 10 years or until you bypass your attempt. then you've 2 years to enhance to an entire license or retake the using attempt. while you're very almost at 10 years with a provisional in line with possibility you will desire to think of roughly not using.

A provisional driving license lasts for two years, you can just reapply for a new one.
A full UK license lasts until your 70.

if it has expired then it should be renewed, it doesn't cast a penny and you pick up the same form as the 1 he/she filled out when they sent off for their provisional.
