Only when you are ubderway or deployed. You never even notice the time. It's a whole lot better that working 40+ hours at Abercrombie & Fitch where you would have to work 160 hours a week to come close to how much money you make in the Navy. And on top of that, what crappy no college degree job is going to pay for you college education with full medical benefits. So, I guess if you want to live with mom for rest of you life instead of traveling to places like Austrlia and Hawaii keep up you adversion to normal work.

It all depends on your job, your ship, your CPO and Div. Officer, and the "evolution"...

When I was out at sea serving as an aircrewman in the SH-60B Seahawk helicopter, the day could be 12 - 16 hours... depending on the work needed for maintanece and paperwork. I'd usually FLY for 8 hours, and then help maintenance until they were finished. After the deployment, back at the squadron, we worked an 8-10 hour day

When I was on my shore tour as an instructor, we worked an 8-10 hour day... but if you weren't TEACHING, and ALL your other work was done, we often made it only a 4 or 5 hour day.

On later sea-tours it was a 12 hour shift in Combat-Control... though usually only 8 hours was actual WORK... plenty of time to study, play cards, and listen to music.

If you're afraid of a full-day's work... the Navy doesn't want you !!

Oh, and now in civilian life I've worked jobs that were 12 hour shifts often.

Of course you work long long hours in the Navy. Not only that they make you go out in these tiny boats where a guy beats a drum and you have to row keeping time with the beat. What you need to do is Enlist in the Army. You get to walk around at a slow easy pace that never makes you sea sick unlike the Navy or Marines get on the boats. Then you have to look at the Air Force. Sure on the outside they look good, all the talk about being a pilot. But look closer, they have people stuffed in mountains and missile silos that are kept there for months, or weeks, or days. Yep you need to enlist in the Army, tell them you want to be a grenade catcher.

Yes you do. Especially if you work in the aviation fields. However, if you are on a shore duty, typically yuo will work a regular 8 hour day, unless you have duty, then you will work longer.

Even if you're assigned to ship you may not work 12 hours a day in port (depending on your job/ and ships maintenance schedule) However while underway 12 hour workdays are normal, however as I stated earlier if you work in aviation you will typically work 18 hour days. I know I did as an ABH.

However, you sound like the sort of slacker (_I_) hole that can benefit from hard work and discipline, or perhaps you should stay at Mcdonalds or whatever B.S. minimum wage job you have, assuming you have a job.

The Sub trackers that I knew certainly did. On a ship with 5000+ personal you need to keep people busy, so work is a great outlet to get your mind off of boredom and frustration at being at sea.

You certainly can work those hours especially when on active duty. When one is doing a tour, there is no such thing as clocking out for the day.

Depending on where you are and what your MOS is, you may be required to work shifts like this if deployed at certain places. This schedule is not sustained for too long though.
