I'm always cleaning up after him and I've asked him numerous times to clean up his messes with no success. But I'm not his mother and shouldn't have to clean up after him. Do I take it to the boss? Because if the boss says something to him he'll know that I said something. It's not only the mess that's bothering me but I don't know if the boss thinks if it's me too that's making the messes. How do I resolve this amicably? I still need to work with him.

There is no other room to get moved to, and it's a shared work area that gets messy and that I need to work in as well. My area stays neat, but I can't do everything there. That's the problem. Many times I need to clean up first before I can do anything.

Yes, I think you are taking too much upon your self to clean up after this guy. I don't know what kind of "mess" you're talking about- but if it interfers with your ability to do your job (ie you can't find files because he's buried them under crap) then you have every right to involve your boss, and the sooner the better because this will have the potential to make you look bad if YOU can't complete something, even if it's the slob's fault. But if you are talking messy like coffee cups or sandwich wrappers and just unsightly stuff- if the boss comments I'd just reply, "oh okay Mr Jones, I'll talk to George about his....." so he'll know it's not you.

you need to tell your boss who is making these messes. Stop cleaning up after him. So what if he finds out you told, he needs to take care of his own messes, not you. If that doesn't work, pull him aside, and kick his

if this bothers you tell him point blank that you find he is a little messy and it is distracting. tell him you feel that you are always cleaning up after him and if he could lend a hand that would be great. he could be clueless about how this bothers you. if the little chat with him doesnt straighten him up maybe then it is time to chat with your boss.

you talked to him.. and informed him of your inconvenience in this situation.. so ask from your boss to move you to another room if the boss asks why?? you would tell the boss of the issue, and tell him that you talked with the college but he didn't respond.. this way you will be satisfied and your college shouldn't be angry because you talked to him and didn't respond.. this way you can give the boss the alternatives to move you or to talk to him..
Note: The environment u work in is important.. and i believe if your college gets angry i would consider him Not amateur ..
hope my answer is helpful..

You teach people how to treat you.
Always respect yourself.
And try to make sure no one else develops the habit of walking all over you by not helping out in the first place.
Sucks, but I've had to do it, too.

Stop cleaning after him. Put tape on the floor and divide up the space. Tell him that his stuff needs to stay on his side of the tape.

The only cure for this condition is electroshock, which causes brief seizures and results in a complete cure of this condition.

It is also really cool to watch. And remember, if somebody is having a seizure in the bathtub, put in detergent and do your laundry.

A sharp elbow to the jaw should do the trick and get your point across nicely
