Most of the recipes I've found online are too fancy. I'm looking for something my kids will enjoy (with or without using flour).

I would roll them in seasoned flour, and SHALLOW fry them for few mins. Delicious!

Hi, here are a couple of ideas:

just try putting them in egg then seaoned flour & shallow fry them until crispy, you could also add a small amout of chilli powder to the flour to make them a bit spicier ( if the kids like that sort of food),

another way is to melt a small amount of butter & oil in a pan, add some finely chopped garlic , saute in the oil mix for a few seconds add the floured sprats fry until cooked,

they are delicious that way hope this hits the right notes & enjoy
