Why not? It's exactly the same thing as a blind date.
You will have no idea what you are really getting yourself into until you meet the other person.
Also, there is NO good way of finding the right person.

I feel very disappointed at all these people who just jump right in and say, "NO!" "Horrible!" "Not good!" If they are SO SURE about what is bad, then they MUST know a guaranteed way in which people can meet Mr. or Mrs. Right.
So to those people who say that, please share your great wisdom of love. We can't wait to hear what you have to say.

On line dating is good if you select the right website. I can recommend two, match.com and eharmony.com. But you must take precautions too. If you make contact with someone through these dating sites, never give out any personal information as to where you live, address, if you live alone, etc. If you find someone, make a date to meet at a restaurant in daylight hours, you taking your own car. Then if you like each other, make another date, but still meet him in a restaurant. Ask important questions. If you feel uncomfortable in any way, ditch him and move on. Never ever get in anyones car that you do not know. Good Luck

It's been working out well for me. I am in my 30's though and don't go to bars etc. It gives you a chance to talk and get to know people before you meet them. As long as you are careful with your personal information, there is nothing wrong with it. If you start talking to someone and feel comfortable going to meet them, just meet them at a very public place the first time (coffee shop, restaruant etc). Make plans for something short and sweet, if it turns out you hit it off and want to stay out longer you can. If you don't like the person, you haven't wasted too much time! Just trust your instincts though, if you feel there is anything strange about the person, don't meet them. Have fun with it! It's brought me outta my shell actually! I was never the outgoing type person and it's helped me become more outgoing now when I am out somewhere.

Online dating is very popular, so it must work for a lot of people. Here is a place that reviews lots of dating websites. Many of the online dating services listed have consumer reviews, so you can read what others think of it. Pretty cool site.

It worked for me! Its yet another way to meet people and like everything else in life there are risks involved but you need to trust your instincts and judgement. Its only as hard as you make it. Dr.Phil has some good tips on online dating, you should visit the page and read it in your spare time. www.drphil.com

Not good. I have dated someone that I met online, and we dated for a year and a half, and to tell you the truth, the long distance kicked my butt, and his and he was very immature, and wasn't as cute as he was on his picture! He was a lot older than the picture he submitted in and he had very bad breath. Talk about chewing turds! LOL! Take my advice, don't do it. Keep it as a friends basis.

If you live on a cattle farm in the middle of nowhere, it is. You should just try to get out and find people in your area at places like coffeeshops, bookstores, or churches. Bars are okay, but everyone is always being fake. Gyms are a good place to meet people too....

If it was up to me I will say "not good." Because online some people aren't they self and online is where you can be who ever you want to be without anybody knowing. So, I want you to think about it.
