I plan to travel to England in December, and I know I need to get the ball rolling on a Passport relatively soon. How soon, exactly, do I need to get this started? And how much, approximately, is it going to cost me?

Go to your post office, get the form.

You'll need to go to a photo place where you can get your passport pic taken. Hurry now, because of the new demand for them, it may take months.

The passport application fee is $67. The execution fee is $30. The total is $97 .

It will cost you less than 100 dollars if you do it very soon, but it will cost you more if you have to have it expidited. You should do this as soon as possible because the waiting time on passports is longer now cause everyone is trying to get it. You need to take your birth certificate and your drivers license to a pass port issuing agency. A lot of post offices do it. You can just call and ask.

I printed out the application that I was able to fill out online. Then take a photo ID, official birth certificate, passport photos, and $97. Check the hours of the passport office ahead of time. Mine is not open after work, evenings, weekends. or lunch hour. I had to arrange to take a half day off of work. I'm still waiting for mine. I looked it up online and it should arrive about the day I'm supposed to get back from my trip. (10 weeks). Good Luck.

If you renew your passport by mail, it should ordinarily take 6 weeks and will cost $60. If you would like to receive your passport in less time, you can choose to have the renewal expedited, which costs $127.

Where are you travelling from? I would suggest the passport office or the post office in any case.
