So for the past 4 years I have lived in hell. My Dad married this trailer park trash woman. Who does nothing but sit home and watches TV all day. Recently there was a water leak in my bedroom, and everything is wet and ruined like my bed etc. So I began doing laundry trying to clean everything, and my Dad unplugged the washer saying I use it to much. Mold has began growing in my room etc so I asked him what he is going to do about it and he said When he rents a dumpster and throws away all my stuff then he'll so something. So I cant stay in my room at all because the carpet is wet and my bed is ruined. its been 3 weeks now. And last weekend my parents went out and baught my step brother a brand new bed. While mine is wet and rotting in my room. They also refuse to let me get my lisence and wont let me get a job. And refuse to buy me womens necesities. Should I report them, and get out of the house. I want to be emancipated because I'm 17. someone help.

Call social services and have them send someone out to look at your room and explain to them that life there is hell. Unless you know someplace that you can go to stay, and they will help you get out. You should not have to ask parents to care for you as parents.

I would talk to a school counselor. It's very unhealthy for you to stay in a room with mold. They will more than likely send somebody out to check your house and give your parents a warning. If they do not fix the problem, they put you into foster care (unless you have other family willing to take you in).

Getting emancipated is very difficult. You have to prove to the courts that your parents are unfit and you are fully capable of taking care of yourself. Since you do not have a job or a car, I doubt they will let you become emancipated.

If you just leave, they can report you as a runaway and put you into juvenile lock up. Your best bet is to talk to your guidance counselor about your options. Hang in there... you will be 18 soon.

You need to report them this should not be going on and is not acceptable behavior on the part of your father and Step mom.
At the age that you are you will more than likely become emancipated depending on the outcome f the investigation, or placed in a temporary foster home.
Sounds to me like if this is going on with you the other child in the home isn't safe either.
Please call your local Child Protective Service office and get help.

I think thats neglect. how strongly do you feel about it? You can report them. you may be placed in a foster home. Its there responsibilaty to provide you with the things you need. Was your brothers room wrecked too? beds dont cost that much if they would look in the papper. carpeting on the outher hand might, If cost is their issue. I know if my kids needed something I would go to the county, get a part time second job for a little while or do whatever i could to get them what they needed. Good luck my dear.

I agree, you should NOT have to live this way and your dad and stepmom are abusive. If want to emancipate yourself, it looks like you will have to go to court with your parents and prove you can take care of yourself and that there is a basis to be emancipated. If you can handle this, by all means do it. Or, do you have a grandmother or relative that you could live with until you are 18 and working? Otherwise, definitely call Children and Family services office for child abuse and maltreatment in your phone book, or your doctor's office or school counselor like people above suggested.

Report them, and then get yourself emancipated. It sounds like you're trying to raise yourself anyway. They are SERIOUSLY neglecting you. Talk to your school counselor and they will advise you on the right way to go.
