Find something that you could enjoy. If you think you may like being a teacher, do a little research. If you go to the library there are books on job descriptions. But just like in any job field, education has tons of jobs aside from teaching. Administration in the office, principal, counsellors, or even at the dept. of education. Find an area you are interested in and then dig deep. But remember that your interests will probably change a few times before you start your career, so just try to get the general field (like education). I have learned one thing though. And if I had been told this in HS I probably wouldn't have listened, but it's important. here goes...Whatever you do, do your best. Look at every situation as where you are supposed to be at that moment. Each thing you do will bring you closer to the authentic you, so don't complain, do it your best. Only then will you be successful. I have heard teachers don't make great money, but ultimately, you'll learn that there is more to life than a big paycheck. Good luck to you.

Well, I would look at things that interest you. I personally liked helping people out and guns so I chose the military. I will go into law enforcement after I'm done with the military. I would think about the kinds of things that youlike to do. Also remember people change careers all the time so you can really go with what you like. Good Luck and have a fun Spring Break.

you still have more than 3 years to figure out what you want to be when you grow up.
I'm a senior in high school, and I promise you that you don't need to know what you want to be.
You honestly won't have any idea until you get to the beginning of your senior year.
As you move on to different grade levels more and more options will be available to you.
Most high schools offer Psychology as a senior course...so for all you know, you might really like it. For the time being just pick an elective that interests you.
Colleges let people apply with an undeclared major. You're not alone. They like to see that you're choosing something that you enjoy rather than something that just looks good on paper.
If you get nominated for National Honor Society later on in your high school career keep in mind that it's a lot of work and 97% of people who are in it regret applying for it.
btw. teaching positions are one of the most underpaid jobs in the country.

A school teacher sounds good!
When dealing with small children your patience will come while dealing with them and their parents! The education for a teacher is not long time. The money depending on what state your in various. If its not enough money you can always tutor or get paid extra during summer school or after school program. Being a teacher is rewarding. You get to help develope the minds of children in a positive way you will help determine their future. Let us know what you pick! Good Luck!

You dont have to know what you want to be right now. Alot of college students take classes and still dont know what they want to be. You have plenty of time to figure it out... You may end up taking 4 or 5 college courses before you figur it out! But until then...for your class assignment, just go with what you think you want to be at this time in your life....regardless of if it will change or not. Its not in stone. Just because you do an assignment on it doesnt mean you actually have to fo through and do that! Your teachers arent going to follow you around after you graduate! So just do your best on the project...read up on something you are interested in at the time being and you should do just fine! Good luck

Don't sweat it honey! I'm 20 (about to turn 21), in college, and I STILL don't have a clue of what I want to do when I "grow-up"! I also thought about being a teacher when I was your age and the patience thing was also an issue with me and trust me, if you don't have patience, you may as well just go ahead and drop the teacher idea.
Just think of things you like to do. What clubs are you in? What hobbies do you have? One of my teachers in high school told us the best way to figure out what we want to do when we get older is to ask ourselves "what would I like to do that I wouldn't care if I got paid for it or not"?
However, I didn't exactly go to the best high school. It got barely enough funding so there were only about 4 or 5 clubs (none of which I qualified for) and the only sport I was involved in was cheerleading and I knew I couldn't exactly make a living off of being a cheerleader. But your high school may different. Try talking to your councelor (sp). Their job is to talk to students about such matters as this!
Good luck!

Well, teachers (at least in my area) don't make much money - however they do get additional tax breaks. It's something to look into.
What's important is that you find something that you're going to be happy doing. You can be making a six figure salary and it's not going to be worth it if your miserable.
Make a list of the things you like doing. Look for career appitude tests (www.livecareer.com - I found this one just by searching for it on google) and talk to your guidance counselor. All of these will give you an idea of what you'll be good at.

If you want to be a kindergarten teacher then go for it! Its not money that rates the success of your life, its waking up and doing what you love and getting paid for it. You could arrange to see a career counsellor to do an asessment of your personality to narrow down what could suit your character but at the end of the day you should do a career that you can see yourself doing for 20 years or more. Good luck, its a big choice.

You don't have to decide right now what you want your career to be. You've got several years of soul searching to do before you need to narrow it down.
Teachers don't make much money, but it's a very noble profession. Go to www.livecareer.com to take a test that will match you up to possible career choices.
As for your electives next year, just choose what appeals to you. There is no "wrong" choice as the classes you take your sophomore year in HS aren't going to determine what career path you have to take. Just have fun with it. You've got plenty of time to discover yourself.

well...you're just in 10th grade sweetie, enjoy school while you can, have fun, and dont worry about the future quite yet, there will be pleanty of time for that later. When you do get to college the best thing to do is to go in as "undecided". Work on general education classes (the basics:math, bio, chem, writing, etc.) These are core classes that most colleges and universities require you to take regardless. The average college student changes their major about 7 times. I was a nursing major when I started my freshman year, but now I am Undecided, and I'm just going to work on gen eds. I jumped into the major thing Waaaaay too soon. But like I said, you're just going to be in 10th grade, you dont need to set your future in stone yet. It might seem like everyone around you knows what they're doing, but trust me when I say that's going to change for them. Enjoy your sophmore year, hang out with friends, take some fun classes.
Something fun you can do is go job shadowing, see if you can follow a kindergarden teacher around for a day. I shadowed for a second grade teacher, that's how I ruled out that option, I didnt really like it. Then i shadowed a nurse. Job shadowing can give you a better idea of what you would like to do. Most schools will give you an excused absence for shadowing, check with your office.
Good luck darlin' :)
