I'm not a big fan of teevee for kiddies, but -- do you have a Spanish-language channel in your area with decent children's programming?

I'm in Canada, and thinking that it might not be a bad idea for at least some of the limited television to be in French. That, and I have a few French-language children's books...I am sort of hoping I can brush up on my rusted-out French while trying to teach it.

I think we'll also fall all over our fluently bilingual friends who want to babysit and chatter away in French. Got any Spanish-speaking friends? Apart from the obvious relatives.

They do learn languages quickly and easily. Lots of kids here who barely ever hear French at home are pretty fluent after just a few years of 'French immersion' (all classes save English taught in Fr) in grade school; a little delay in exposing him to Spanish won't be a big deal, I don't think. Good luck!

Leave him with the grandparents for a whole month, and prohibit them from speaking English to him. Young children learn extremely fast.

Buy some cds and books; you two can learn together.
