I've been lifting weights for a few months now, and at first I was doing good, gaining 5 pounds of muscle. But now I can't gain a single pound. I'm eating about 3500-4000 calories a day, mostly protien. I don't do too much cardio, just run about once a week and swim 500-1000 yards 2-3 times week. I'm thinking maybe I'm not getting the proper kind of nutrients, so what I'm really wondering are what kind of supplements should i take?

You don't need supplements if you are eating well rounded meals while you work out. The muscle gain will come, and your body needs to take time out, once in a while, as far as constantly building your weight in muscle. You need to tone the muscles as you gain the weight, and that takes your body's attention.

There are a number of things you can do to triger muscle growth in your body: 1) change up your eating habits, this will trick your metabolism and give it a boost, 2) change up your workout, if you consistently do the same exercises your body will adapt to them, this is why when you first start you see such results becasue your body is shocked, 3) take suplements- if you want to add weight to your body take protein, the best 1 being optimum whey protein.. for a energy boost and blood pumping supplement take no-explode and for a muscle enhancer take creatine, cell/nitro tech works well. Vitamins are a must have as well to keep your body healthy... but most important of all to see results you have to work hard! good luck.
