Hi everyone!
I am getting married in August 08 and have decided I would love to walk up the aisle to "The Rose" by Leanne Rhymes. It's such a lovely tune and it always makes my fiance sniffle a bit!! And we both really like the song... However, I'm not sure if the lyrics are appropiate for a wedding? Does it sound too sad for a wedding?
I shall post the lyrics after this message because they are too long to fit on this bit!!
Any opinions would be very much apprieciated, Thank you! :o)

Some say love it is a river
That drowns the tender reed.
Some say love it is a razor
That leaves your soul to bleed.

Some say love it is a hunger
An endless, aching need
I say love it is a flower,
And you it's only seed.

It's the heart afraid of breaking
That never learns to dance
It's the dream afraid of waking
That never takes the chance

It's the one who won't be taken,
Who cannot seem to give
And the soul afraid of dying
That never learns to live.

And the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long.
And you think that love is only
For the lucky and the strong.

Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snow
Lies the seed that with the sun's love,
In the spring, becomes a rose.

In reply to "Retired" I know the song was originally done by Bette Midler but I prefer the Leanne Rhymes version. It's been done and re-released so many times! I think Westlifes version has to be the worst.

Our wedding wont be traditional, we're not getting married in a church.

Go for it, It is your wedding and all that should matter is that you and your fiance agree on the song.
Congratulations!

I think it is a good song! BUT...I would do just an instrumental with no words... I just don't think there should be singing while you are walking down the aisle...just music. But if you decide to go with the singing too, I don't htink there is anything wrong with the words... Most people won't even listen to the words, and everyone else will know the song since its been around forever..and I'm sure most people love that song.

The Rose was first done by Bette Midler, which has nothing to do with your question, I just thought I'd point that out. If your wedding is going to be traditional I'd stick with the wedding march then have the rose sung during the service. If your having a "non-traditional" wedding go for it.

It's not so bad, it's on the gloomy side if I had to make a choice. But it is a beautiful song.

You know what else beautifula nd just perfect:
Andrea Bocelli's "Con te Partiro"
Check it out, you might change your mind, it is trully an elating and euphoric opera song.

Go with this song. I think that it will work out perfectly for yous. And you mentioned it already touches both you and your grooms heart and you both love it. So it will mean even more to use this song when you walk down the aisle.
Congrats!!

I love the song but your walk down the aisle won't be long enough for the whole song.

I suggest something shorter or just musical
