We've been dating for over a year every so often, he wants to have an NSA encounter with someone else- no emotional connection no nothing, just sex. I love him, but can this work? It hasn't happened yet, but he says almost every man cheats, he's just honest about it.

no not everyone cheats, what he is saying to u in wanting someone else, is your really not satisfying him. best to realize that there is really a good chance he will cheat on u, in the future, and any relationship even if just a sexual one has the potential of becoming more. don't believe anything he is telling u, any encounter can mean the end of your relationship. takes very Little to fall in love, because it really doesn't involve the free will, involves a feeling, lust, but when it happens the person can really feel as if they are truly in love with that other person. its all a physical thing at first. best to see him for what he is. he is going to cheat on u and may or may not fall in love with the other party. he can't say he won't. how many marriages and relationships have ended because something that was suppose to be only a physical encounter turned into a full blown affair, with the love thing and all.

You need to decide if YOU can love him as a cheater. He has come out and told you he thinks he has to cheat, that he wants to cheat!
Lots of men don't cheat. The crap he's feeding you, you are actually buying into. Now if you don't mind him having the most intimate thing two people can share...with someone else...under ANY circumstances....and you don't mind both of you getting checked for a new disease every time he actually TELLS you he cheated, then go for it.
But some day you will realize lots of people never ever cheat and that having a pen. doesn't mean you must cheat. That is a man story. Like the 15 year old boys that tell their little girlfriends "I will love you forever!" It's what they SAY to get what they want. He's already getting it from you, now he's saying he wants to get it someplace else. Do you mind?

No, not unless you can handle him being with other women.
Then there is that other thing to think about...what if he brings home a gift...like AIDS, STDS, etc...???
He is full of crap if he thinks almost every man out there cheats...it is not true.
So if you can handle him cheating on you and chance him bringing something home to you, then yes, it can last as long as you put up with it.
If you do not feel that way, then NO it will never last.
Personally I would want someone who only wanted me and who did not cheat on me...
I want the honesty for sure...but I want my significant other to be faithful like I am.
be cool...

if you like him, and you know about his intentions, you have 2 options, take him like he is, or forget it, and run. being honest, doesn't take the hurt away, when he cheats on you.

sounds like your relationship is missing something...Plus he sounds a bit immature to even be in a serious relation with anybody.

Run....don't walk as fast as you can away from this guy.
He's telling you already that you can't and shouldn't trust him.
