Am I being unreasonable by asking him to stop this or should I trust him and see it as merely a way of sorting himself out when i'm not around?

If it bugs you, then I think you have a right to ask him to stop, or set some rules to make it more palatable for you. He might not necessarily stop doing it, but you might be able to compromise him down to something that you wouldn't mind so much (like watching porn, or something). Or maybe offer to call him now and then and talk dirty to him.

Does it bother you that he's actually talking to another human being when he does this? I know if my guy did that, that's what would bother me the most. Hubby can watch all the porn he likes, those people aren't real, but I don't want him talking to someone else to enjoy himself.

no you should not ignore it. I look at this as a gateway to cheating what is going to keep him from hooking up with someone that he has met on the chat line?

if he is bored when you are not around he needs to call you if you are unavilable leave a message, period. do not accept this behavior next thing you know you will be asking how do i move on after finding out my bf cheated on me with a girl he met on the chat line?

Chat lines?!? Wow that is low and you allowing is lower. That is cheating and if you ok it he will expect you to lower your standards so far that the next thing you will find is him in bed with someone other than you. Do you want that? Have some respect for yourself and stand up for yourself and he refuses then dump him! Dont let him drag you down with him.

If is is something that is bothering you, and he knows it, why wouldn't he sacrifice something small like that for you? I'm sure if you were doing something like that, he would be angry. Talk to him about it that it makes you feel uncomfortable. If he doesn't understand at your level, maybe he isn't quite worth it.

Honestly I don't see why he would call chat lines to enjoy himself. He should be trying to find new things to do with you and not turn to chat lines for fun.

Depends on several factors.

What does he talk about. Is it flirting or talking about sex acts? How does he react when you ask him questions about going on chat lines? I would tell him (using "me" and your feelings, not "you" language) that you feel uncomfortable, like you aren't enough "enjoyment" for him. Focus on how it makes you feel and if he's sensitive to how it's affecting you, he may feel more compelled to give it up. If he's stubborn about it and refuses to...well, you have a decision to make then. I'd evaluate the status of my relationship if I were in that situation.

tell him to stop. when your not around if he want to "enjoy" himself ask him to fantasize about you while "enjoying" himself.

and umm..most chat lines cost money...ask him why he isn't putting that money into you...in a round about way he is paying someone else to get him to "enjoy" himself...why doesn't he chat with you in order to do that?

"sorting" himself out? interesting way to try to put it all in perspective....but sorry...ummm....your being completely REASONABLE by telling him NO!

Or could it be, because your not giving him the attention he could use from you, either that or he is just crazy about "himself" too much

but cut his @ss loose and find someone else.

I wouldn't like it either. If he had any respect for you, he wouldn't be doing that. Maybe it's time for you two to go your own separate ways.

Dump Him! if you have told him you don't like it and he has carried on he doesn't respect you. Get rid and find someone who'll treat you right.
