It already has many times.
The church no longer tells people that the Earth is the center of the universe and the Sun orbits around it.
The church no longer makes references to Babel in protest of man's attempts to fly.
The Catholic church has recently acknowledged that evolution has basis in evidence.
God's realm of gaps is shrinking quickly.

Science and religion/faith do not have to oppose each other: they can actually go hand in hand. One will never be able to overshadow the other.

Considering Religion is growing at the fastest rate it has in centuries I highly doubt it. What will happen though is the realization that the two not only do not contradict each other but actually go hand in hand.

No, because religion is a matter of faith. Science will never be able to prove that God does not exist so the basis for faith will never be destroyed.

No, all science can do is try and figure out how God did everything, only God has all of the answers. Also, God and the people who love and worship him will be around much longer that the scientists who don't.

Why think in those terms?
If a religion is teaching truth and science is seeking truth, the two should go hand in hand.

It's not the intention of science to do so. Science just observes what's around us...and changes its mind according to the evidence presented.

No because science cannot take out that very thing that makes us human. Our humanity and that deeply rooted sense that we are not alone in the universe.
