I agree with you. To me, sex is a private and personal thing that I treat with respect. Crude and immature joking has never impressed me, but I hear a lot of it ( I've worked in construction all my life).

I don't try to tell anyone how I feel, I've learned to be stoic yet non-judgmental in my reactions. I've learned to be selective about the people I hang out with. And I don't go to a lot of comedy clubs anymore.

Well the short answer is no I don't feel uncomfortable. Here's why: You can't censor everyone and its up to each person to use a little discretion when telling jokes and such. However it is also everyones right to voice their feelings should they be offended about any joke or comment someone puts out there pubicly. What may be offensive to you could be humorous to others, it's up to each person to either listen or leave or speak their opinions. Although you must remember that even if you say something about the joke being offensive to you, the joke teller may or may not take your feelings to heart.

Yes, I do feel uncomfortable ... because the joke itself usually tells you something about the person telling it, and I do not always want to see that side of a person.

I have seen people tell others "that's not funny!" with a big smile and a little laugh, to cover the fact that you think he / she is not nice. It is a skill to be cultivated: how to say what you want and need to say but to sugar coat it; it is all an act but should be one of your social skills .... I have seen people do this sort of thing, and then as soon as the offender is out of earshot, they really let you know how they feel, even if it is with only a look ....

i'm an interpreter in a school. As Lyris stated, an interpreter is obligated to no longer censor something stated or signed while examining. As interior the US we've a sturdy code of ethics in Canada. while examining, the swear words do come off my palms or out of my mouth. If a instructor hears the interpreter asserting this then then they could desire to handle it with the Deaf pupil as that's what they signed. because of the fact the interpreter "I" did no longer swear, the pupil did. Likewise, if the Deaf pupil observed a swear coming off my palms, s/he might report to the instructor that the different pupil swore...s/he knows it replaced into no longer the interpreter. the only time I report something to the proper is while as an interpreter I grow to be conscious that a minor's well being or welfare is in threat. that's amazingly oppressive to Deaf human beings, infants lined, to in basic terms interpret the 'effective' issues. different than for being morally incorrect, It additionally prevents them from gaining expertise of a thank you to administration the genuine international and handle social interactions, even while uncomfortable. Interpreters are taught this early on. If somebody isn't comfortable with those household initiatives, they could desire to evaluate a distinctive profession.

Say 'sorry, but I don't think that's very funny'? It's not rude to say what you personal preferences are.
Personally I don't care about these jokes, don't think they're funny but it doesn't bother me either, just doesn't do a thing either way. I don't laugh just to be polite but I don't feel the need to ask them to stop either, but that's just me. If I didn't like it, I'd say so, nothing rude or wrong with that.

It depends who tells the joke.
Sometimes dirty jokes can be funny too. If a friend tells it and the joke contains some wit and intelligence, then i'll laugh.
But if someone i'm not very close with tells this joke, i'll feel very uncomfortable and not laugh.

Your somewhat right I don't really appreciate dirty jokes. Actually what I do is that I automatically become quiet, I don't even smile or show any signs of being pleased. But you know, sometimes just like in my case it is not my attitude to offend people by not riding on their jokes when they smile at me I try to send a feedback which is not quite offending.

Your aversion to this type of humor is a significant factor in determining your compatibility with someone. It's important to make your feelings known early on. Since most people will not share your feelings, nor pick up on subtle polite comments, you may need to resort to a more direct approach. Tell them firmly, that that isn't an appropriate subject and please don't tell that kind of a joke to me again.

Truly, it depends on the company I am in. However, if you are being made to feel uncomfortable, you should speak up. The person telling the jokes may not be aware of this, unless you speak up. God bless****
