i am in a 1.6 8v vectra and traveling fron newcastle to notts in few days just wanted an estimate

Im not sure of the exact distance, but I would guess 140 miles, 7 miles per litre would give 20 litres there, 20 back (Im basing this on my 1.4 Rover 25 that does about the same, your vectra is newer and probably more efficient but bigger so simular fuel consumption)
Drive at the speed limit, dont accellerate at full throttle, and you might do it in less. Hyperthetically, do it at 100mph and you will use maybe 25 litres
Id fill the tank up and what you dont use you can use for other journeys

Try and get 50 miles to the gallon. You can do this by driving at no more then sixty miles an hour and creeping away from any lights etc.
