And you had bought a Freelander, but it came with an old fashioned cassette stereo....would you buy a compatible 6 disc changer, OR a nice looking CD head unit which only takes 1 CD?

I'd buy a head unit that will only except one cd but also has an input jack so I could hook up my mp3 player. CD's are done it's all about the downloads now!

If all you are playing is CD's, I would buy the CD head unit. The 6 disc changer is good if that is all the CD's you have. You have to stop the vehicle to change CD's out if you have more than 6. I have one, and on a long road trip, I have wished for the single head unit so that I don't have to change them out. It boils down to your specific situation and what you want.

Personally, I'd replace the head unit with a single CD player. However, if you'd like the 6-disk capacity, go with that option ONLY if it's a type that directly connects to the cassette player and is controlled through the cassette player's buttons. If it's the type that you tune in through the radio and has a separate control box, your sound quality will suffer.

No, I'd take the one I have from my existing car and replace the system in the Freelander.
I have a 10-disk Sony unit. Cheap these days, especially if a previous years' model. As the fist poster, I'd also ensure if you are to buy a new head unit, that you get an ipod or usb interface with it, these are actually cheap head units at around £100.

Change to the 6 if you can flip the bill and I can not recommend enough getting a Sirius satellite radio installed especially if you drive a lot, Every Genre of music you are into commercial free and even the talk stations commercial breaks are not as bad as regular radio. I would do that first, it is awesome. TC messtograves
