If a guy you have seen in office [but dont know his name] adds you to instant messenger? I plan to do that, but I dont know how to go about introducing myself. Could I say, hey, I am guy seated a few desks away from you at 10 o clock angle or waving at you right now or something like that?

Lol. First of all, if you don't know the name, it would be kind of freaky and may lead to being avoided... And second, you're supposed to be working, not playing with people. If you're going to introduce by instant messenger, then stay away from specific descriptions like that 10 o clock angle, or I see you, makes you look obsessed and freaky o.0.

I would just start off by smiling at her, saying good morning. Maybe sitting near her at lunch and starting a conversation. Something like that. Don't just add her to IM, if a random guy I didn't know added me, I'd find it kinda creepy. At least try to become her friend first.

i think i would get alittle freaked out if i get a message like that...it reminds me of "I know what you did last summer"
Do the wave thing, just make sure you don't 'behind you" cuz she'll prolly piss on herself. Just be like, " hey,....it's (name) i'm waving at you now, turn around" that's ok, that way it wont scare her as much.

why can you not go up and talk to her? Well if it is in an office and you cannot talk... I would make sure she knew who you were.... write her a note or something..... tell her you want to go for coffee or lunch.... Just try some small talk at first.

not a good idea, a bit of a stalker that way. introduce yourself first, get to know her that way. i have im at work and always wonder when someone adds me what they want from me! If someone who i have no interaction with adds me, i would probably decline

i would be left off alittle wondering about how the guy got my messenger name, try talking to her in person, and wait till she gives her messenger address to you.
