eg: in other parts of the world, dog is eaten. But in the EU we eat vegetarian animals (cows, pigs, chicken, lamb). does meat from a meat-eating animal taste different?

We usually eat animals that are easy to breed in controlled conditions like farms and ranches. Such animals- cow, lamb, chicken and pig can be fed easily on food available locally such as hay, corn etc...produced on the farm itself. That's how the culture of eating "veggie" animals evolved. The other reason is that meat eating animals- including humans- have a high serum of Uric Acid (Urea) in their blood stream. If humans eat meat from carnivorous animals, the Uric Acid levels in our blood would shoot up much higher than our body-specially the kidneys and brains can handle- leading to complications like kidney stone, gout and other medical conditions. Also, meat from carnivorous animals has a strong odor in itself due to presence of various enzymes, which makes it unsuitable for food- unless of course, one is willing to accept the smell. Ever tried shark meat??? It has a foul odor, smells when bought and while cooking.

Animals That Eat Meat

Meat eating animals would taste different from herbivores. An animal's diet greatly effects the flavor of the meat. I live in Michigan and eat quite a bit of venison; when the deer is from the southern part of the state it tastes different than when it is from the UP, this is because deer in the south have basically the same diet as cattle whereas northern deer eat whatever they can get- more bark.

Also, meat eating animals are predators. This means that there are fewer available to consume than say cattle. Since they are predators they are also more muscular than the animals we typically eat, this would make for a much tougher meal.

we shouldn't be eating any animals, really. I would think that meat from meat eating animals would be too high in fat and protein. I find the concept of eating decaying animal flesh repulsive, but the sad fact is that is how most people were raised, and few realize how wrong it is. What right do we have to sacrafice a living, breathing, creature just to stuff our faces and satisfy our greedy needs? There are so many lovely foods available that don't have to bleed or die in order for me to get the nutrition I need.

Probably because it would cost too much to open a farm and breed carniverous animals. It's one thing to buy grain for cows, pigs, etc., but can you imagine how much it would cost to run an alligator farm and have to feed it meat every day?
