yes and no / you can not run xp in dos , because windows xp does not have dos , it has a cmd prompt , however !! there is a great tool , known as bartPE , bart PE allows you to create a xp boot up disk that runs xp off a disk using the pc's ram (min 0f 512MB required ) with this utility you can add things like a web browser , anti virus tools , browser cleaners etc , it's a great tool for IT pros to fix windows related issue with out the need of reformatting

Unlike Win98, there is no DOS underneath Windows XP.

You can run XP in command line mode... looks like DOS but isn't... by interrupting Windows XP startup. Just the same as Win98 startup. F8 I think but maybe F5 at startup (can't check, use Linux mostly now). But as it's an emulation of DOS it may not work to allow you to delete spyware.

You could try deleting the spyware in 'safe' mode - get there the same way as above - as XP's mostly not running anything in safe mode.

Not without a DOS disk.

2000 and XP are actual OS's, so they do not run in DOS. They have a small DOS shell within them, but it runs within Windows instead of the other way around.

Grab a DOS floppy and boot into it that way, it wont be a full version, but youll have the commands you need to delete stuff.
