I have a 4 year old corgi/basset hound mix. I recently got married and moved out of my mom's house, but my dog stayed. After I moved, her behavior changed. She was still eating, but not a lot. I brought her to the vet and he said that she probably just missed me, but he did a lot of blood work and x-rays and checked her out from head to toe. She was slightly dehydrated so he gave her some IV fluids. Other than that, she was fine. I brought her home with me and my husband, and since then she's still just picking at her food. I mean, she'll eat a few pieces of food a day. She is pooping once a day and urinating but she needs to eat more than she's eating. I've tried EVERYTHING. The only thing that she'll eat is meat that we cook for her. Does anybody have any suggestions? She's losing weight and I need to get her to eat. Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem!! My mom's dog does it too when she is gone. I got so desperat, I gave mine a hlf of a small ham, which she finally ate two days after playing with it. What I ended up doing for my dog (and later hers) was pour apple juice over the dog food. Dogs love apples, and so they start by licking the juice, then eating the food that has it on it. Each day, just cut back on the juice a little bit until she is back to eating normally. It has worked like a charm. I still do it for my mom's dog when she is gone.

She is probably still getting used to the moving situation. Dogs can and do get depressed. But, if you keep feeding her meat and not dog food she will get used to that and not want to eat her dog food.

Try to slowly mix in dog food with the meat you are cooking and try to wean her off of the meat. If she is still resistant with the dog food try to incorporate some wet food too.

Try giving her some wet food on top of her dry dog food. Make sure she is drinking water, too. If she still doesnt eat, then try buying her some greenies( dog treats). I hope that works.

You could try mixing some canned food in with it. My dogs NEVER resist canned food.
