Was Admiral Nelson a Hero or not?

Im dooing a 5000 word essay on waether or not Nelson was a hero or not. If anyone has any sites that disagree with the view that he is a hero would be greatly appreciated.

I think you'll struggle to find any evidence to suggest Admiral Nelson was anything other than a hero, although you could try some French Naval Journals.

One of the aspects of being a Great military commander ,is too improvise away from 'the norm' to get the job done. Therefore if I was you I would look at, obviously the Battle of Trafalgar, and most notably how he deviated from the 'ships of the line' tatics which is what the French expected from him.

This led to Napolean being unable to invade England, in a similar fashion to Hitlers ambitions after the Battle of Britain. Another battle to consider is the infamous Battle of the Nile, as well as looking at how he is revered by the British public today, 202 years after his death. Although his philandering with mistresses was frowned upon in that era
