Diapers and wipes, of coarse.
Mainly, mylecon gas drops and oragel.
Desitin diaper ointment.
My Ocean Wonders Aquarium swing- he loves it.
Ocean Wonders aquarium mobile- it helps him fall asleep, he lokes looking at the lights that shine onto the ceiling.
My husband just bought an exersaucer- it's the brand new evenflow one and my four month old loves it. It gives me time to get things done.
He also loves to sit in his bouncy seat.
Also the Baby Einstien: Baby Mozart DVD. My kid has been watching it since he was about 8 weeks old and he pays attention to it all the way through. I think it does stimulate him intellectually and keeps him interested. For some brands and ideas check www.babiesrus.com they have a lot of baby stuff and lists of things new moms need.

Well the crib ofcourse! Beyond that I have to say the baby swing for many months when he was fussy would be my sanity saver. And the Fisher Price Jumperoo kept him entertained so I had enough time to sit down for a second.

for me, an exersaucer! until my daughter was able to sit up, she would scream unless she was asleep or being held. hated the car, the bouncy seat, baths, everything! then my mother bought an exersaucer and it was the best thing ever! she was able to twist and turn and it had about 15 toys on it! i could clean and just put her in there and she would be there about 20-30 min at a time!

Apart from the obvious things, i would say a baby swing, sleepbag, and also angled bottles.

Theese 3 things where life safers to me.

There is a product that works like ora-gel that doesn't numb the whole mouth, just the gum. It is from the UK. I can't remember the name though. It worked so well when my child was teething.

Nappies has got to be the number one answer, disposable of course.
Dummies, pushchair, baby bouncer, bottles, bibs, cot, sudocrem to prevent nappy rash.
God the list is endless.
Good luck with your project.
