Hi,

I am taking Prozac, due to a really nasty break up. My ex is on the same campus, and I panic when I see her. I started taking Prozac, and I felt terrible, yesterday I was feeling very down, but today I felt great. I used to absoulutly cringe when I saw her, today she didn`t bother me nearly as much. Its like an overnight change? I am taking 60 mg, and I upped the dose by 20mg 2 days ago? Is this the Prozac? Has it cured my PTSD, OCD and depression?
I hope it has!!

Please note, I know what SSRIS are, and how they work, and what they are prescribed for, so i don`t need an explanation, so I just need peoples experiences, and
whether this is the Prozac?

I hope it is, because I am tired of the anxiety, and being pulled down by the whole situtation. I want my optimism, confidence, and life back!!!!

Also, its nearly 4 weeks. Is this the so called onset - the so called kick? I hope it is?

Morning,
I have been taking Paxil( for years now essentially two weeks after I got married) which I imagine is similar and it really did help with my panic attacks after it got in my system. I do have one recommendation ask your Doc if you can get a xanex script. The stuff when taken as it is supposed to is mint. It works fast it does not stay in your system to long and you can function whether it is school or work and will really help when you are really stressed. One more thing and I know it is tough try really not to drink alcohol with this stuff , besides it being a depressant where you do not want to be now and it does mess up the interactions of the two drugs. Anyway you will gain control of your life back and it seems that you are being proactive by going to get that script , it is really good that there is no stigma attached with these drugs now , my dad is in the field and he says that they really are figuring out how to control how your brain is working. Good luck my man it will all be good, but ask for a xanex script to take as needed , it really is affective and works well with the SSRIS. TC messtograves

It might be. And the key word here is 'might'. It takes 2 to 4 weeks for meds like Prozac to be fully effective. Longer if the dose is being adjusted. Since you just increased your dose, and are now feeling better, I'd take that as a positive sign. Don't get in a hurry to call yourself cured. If you stop taking the meds, without your doctors approval you could 'crash and burn'. Stay on the treatment and give it more time. One day of feeling good is a good thing. The goal is feeling good every day. Trust me, I've been taking anti-depressants and anti- anxiety meds for about 8 years.

Mental illness has helped from medicines but also by your surroundings, if you fell better about your ex. maybe you should let prozac, but according with your doc.
