Steel tubs are heavy and more expensive than other materials. They do hold the heat of the water longer though. Acrylic is another word for plastic (although some are fiberglass). They are lighter and less expensive but have more of a tendency to be cracked over time. Most installation instructions will require a mortarbed under them to prevent the tub bottom from flexing. Ceramic is usually a tiled surface made up of individual tiles. They are pleasing to the eye as long as the grout joints are properly sealed and kept clean. Bad tiles can be replaced if necessary.
