I had LASIK surgery last August and it was the best decision I've ever made.
It is true that the older you are (when you have the surgery) the more susceptible you are to complications. Since you are 18, you should be fine. Sometimes, older folks have more problems w/ their eyes. That's the only concern there.
Complications are rare. During the surgery, everything is carefully orchestrated and goes quite smoothly. The patient is the one who poses the most risk for complications...the days and weeks after the surgery are very critical to the healing process. It's up to the patient to carefully follow doctor's orders about limiting activities: reading, watching TV, etc.
If you are seriously considering it, do your homework. Don't go to one of those hole-in-the-wall places that offer to do each eye for $99. You get what you pay for! I went to a surgeon in the TLC Eyecenter network. If you look them up online,(www.tlcvision.com) they are all over North America and are very reputable.
Good luck! 8-)

Well I've heard a lot of people contemplating over this issue when wanting laser eye surgery to get rid of their glasses. The dangers of this is basically 0.1% - very unlikely, as it has a high success rate. You might suffer some blurring after the surgery but you should be fine after a while with the doctor giving you some medicine.

The only way you are going to get the answers to your questions is to talk to a professional .
