I had all four taken out 22nd Feb, and for some reason I still cant eat things very well, and talking differently as well. My jaw is still sore and cant open very wide, yawning kills me. And a new thing has come up, I have like pins and needles in my tongue.

Im not sure as to what is going on :( Here i was thinking having them out will make me better, but its just made me worst.

Help can anyone suggest something i can do? Im on pain killers every 4 hrs, sometimes every 3.

:(

Pain as your describing this far out from surgery is not common and is an indication that something more is going on. You shouldn't be on any pain medications after this much time. I would be more inclined to think there is an infection from food getting lodged in the extraction sites. As for the pins and needles, this is something that your dentist needs to be made aware of. The jaw pain is not uncommon if you "did not" do jaw stretching exercises the days following surgery. Call your dentist for an emergency visit today and discuss all these symptoms with him as these should be addressed immediately. You can try some hot moist compresses (damp towel heated in the microwave works great) on both sides of the face and try opening and closing several times, a little wider each time. See if you get any relief from this, most patients are amazed at how much relief they feel instantly. A lot of this could be just from the jaws being tight, the pins and needles is a nerve description and I think with this much pain going on after this much time, there probably is an infection involved that needs to be treated with antibiotics. Hope I've been of some help and do see your dentist today, this is not something you should have put off even for this long. Good luck.

additional information: ice is for immediate swelling caused from surgery or extractions. Hot moist compresses are used after the first 24 hours. Advil or Motrin 800mg can be taken but take it at least 2 hours after taking any pain medications so it won't upset your stomach. Dry socket develops within the first day or two, not after this much time and you would have gone to the dentist in excruciating pain immediately. Uncovered bone in the mouth is more than painful. Sutures aren't placed after this much time, and you want to see the same dentist as he knows what type procedure you had and the difficulty involved, a new dentist would not know any of this. See your dentist today so he can diagnosis your problem and get you out of the pain your having. Good luck.

Sounds like you got an infection or dry socket. Take some motrin (not pain medication) and you may have nerve issues with the "needles" call them today and if they are not helpful call your family doctor. Tell him/her the issues.
Put some ice on your jaw if you can 20 mins on 20 mins off and do this when you can rest.

go back to your dentist. You may need to have the hole sutured closed, it is called a dry socket.
