Can an ache in your tooth send pain down your shoulder and back? If so, what is causing this? If not must be something else. Thanks....

Its very unlikely. Its impossible to say what is causing the pain, it could be many things!

Hmm. If it's a lower tooth, especially in the back (a molar), there's a chance that the pain could radiate down your back. A lot of times nerves are interconnected and it's difficult to say what, exactly, someone else may feel.

It is uncommon, but possible.

If your shoulder and back are the primary pain, see your physician first. If your tooth is primary pain, see your dentist first. In any case, turn off your computer and call someone for an appt!

I had impacted wisdom teeth that were wearing away at my molars under my gum-line. I was in much pain for about a month before I could afford to pay for the surgery to remove them. The pain was all in my jaw/face area and caused headaches. I felt like crap all over though!

When the orthopedic surgeon took out my wisdom teeth he wasn't sure if my molars would remain intact because the roots had been warn away quite a bit. It's 8 years later and my dentist is confident I won't lose my molars, but they monitor them whenever I go in.

If you have a toothache that is not going away I would recommend going to a dentist sooner rather than later.

It would have to travel meaning everything between those areas are hurting. If so get to a doc you have a bad infection and if it's in your blood stream it can kill you. No joking. Get to a Doctor ASAP!!

Perhaps not directly, but the tension that accompanies the pain can spread to your back.

No, it doesn't seem likely, but maybe you should see a doctor, to find out.
