Open a Old World History Book. Israel use to possess almost the entire region that is today called the middle East. Borders shift and move all the time. Don't you know that Great Briton once owned so many territories that the sun never set on a British terrirory?

Probably because Israel took:

Sinai, because that's where Egypt illegally attacked them from in the 1967 war.

Golan Heights, because that's where Syria illegally attacked them from.

West Bank, because that's where Jordan illegally attacked them from.

Gaza, because that's where the Palestinians illegally attacked them from.

Why didn't the world community make Israel give the land back ?

Well the UN passed Resolution 242.

Which stated that Israel had to give the land back, and the belligerent parties had to normalize relations with Israel.

Now Egypt normalized relation with Israel by signing a peace treaty, and Israel withdrew from the Sinai.

Jordan gave up their claim to the West Bank, years before they finally made peace with Israel.

The Syrians still have not made peace with Israel.

The Palestinians still have not made peace with Israel. But Israel gave back Gaza anyway.

When the countries that illegally attacked Israel in 1967, decide they want peace and sign a peace treaty, then Israel will give the land back.

That's how the real world works, you illegally attack someone and lose, you have to make peace before you get the land you lost during your illegal attack back.

So maybe you should be asking Syria and the Palestinians why they have refused to make peace with Israel since 1948.

I don't know what kind of question this is, but you have to get past the leftist idea that there is never anything worth fighting for.

If you study history in Israel, Jews have been there since the 1800s, not the 1940s as the media would have you believe. Their actions against their neighbors in 1967 was an act of self defense. They thought that their freedom and safety was worth fighting for.

They were attacked, they captured land they were being attacked from and occupied it to keep it from being used to attack them again.
That's called strategy and is an acceptable act in war.
