You can put your own curriculum together if you would like from the library. I myself find investing in materials is well worth it! You can put together different curriculum's using a variety of resources. For example, I use Abeka for basic grammar, Saxon( this year) for Math. Apologia for science, and we have a co-op we are in that covers things like art, public speaking, History and another science class for enrichment. I can't say any of it is free, but I am pretty frugal about getting my resources. Check for used curriculum sales and on eBay. You really need to get hooked up with a local home school support group if you are just starting out. I am in the Central Fl area if I can be of any more help. Just email me.

You can also take PS classes al a cart at your local school, but I found it wasn't worth it. Email for more details.

Your first step would be to visit www.hslda.org and find out the laws for home schooling in Florida.

Home Schooling is not free! Freedom comes at a cost .. You might be able to find a virtual school (like PA has) that the state will pick up the tab, but I am not familiar with FL ...

HSLDA will give you the advice you need and I have been told that the virtual schools are not the best (for a good education) .. You also should check out your local HS Support group. You can ask questions about what others are using in your area.

WHY does your daughter want to be HS? That would be a question that should be addressed also .. Especially at 8th grade, she may not be telling you the whole story .. You will want to help her with the concern she has about school as well as weigh out other school options.
There may be a problem you are unaware of.

Good luck!

Ambleside Online is a completely free homeschool curriculum which involves printing books and/or borrowing them from the library.

K12 curriculum is a free online charter school, but it is not available in all areas. Check their website first, as this would probably be a better choice for your first year of homeschooling. At their site, click on the "K12 Options" tab at the top of the page, then choose your state.
