THC is perfectly healthy and does NOT cause a person to lose self control, like ALCOHOL. THC actually has many health benefits. The only health problem with marijuana is the tar from smoking it, which can be helped by using a water bong, or better yet, a VAPORIZER. The ONLY reason marijuana is illegal is because the government can't put a tax on it BECAUSE if it is legalized, people will grow it in their homes instead of buying it at a store. Tobacco is legal because they can tax it and you cannot grow it in your home so YOU HAVE TO buy it at a store, GET IT? O, and pot is definately NOT a gateway drug.

I think the below facts provided by LEGITIMATE medical authorities dispute your source of information. The US government won't tax marijuana simply because the drug, listed in Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act (CSA), has no medical benefits and has a potential for abuse and addition. The CSA is an act compiled by US law and International treaties of which the USA participates.

Sure there are worse drugs on the streets, however, that doesn't make marijuana any better than the others simply because you don't think it does. In other words, I'd challenge your medical expertise if you were debating the topic.

As a narcotics officer and police officer for over 30 years, I've seen the serious issues associated with illegal drugs including marijuana on a daily basis.

To state that alcohol is worse than marijuana because it doesn't "have the same effects" is incorrect. Like alcohol, marijuana is a central nervous system depressant...just like alcohol...therefore its effects are like that of drinking alcohol.

When someone tries to state that marijuana never killed anybody ... I disagree as I've worked numerous accidents and fatalities where illegal marijuana consumption was a contributory cause of the incident.

Short Term Effects:

Short-term effects of marijuana include problems with memory and learning, distorted perception (sights, sounds, time, touch), trouble with thinking and problem solving, loss of motor coordination, increased heart rate, and anxiety. These effects are even greater when other drugs are mixed with marijuana.A user may also experience dry mouth and throat.

Long Term Effects:

Marijuana smoke contains some of the same cancer-causing compounds as tobacco, sometimes in higher concentrations.Studies show that someone who smokes five joints per week may be taking in as many cancer-causing chemicals as someone who smokes a full pack of cigarettes every day.

I honestly think people who smoke pot are more mellow, unlike alcohol that causes people to harm others.
Smoking pot is legal here in canada only if you have cancer or cronic pain with allergies to pills, but your Dr has to ok it....lol Gotta love Canada...lol
Hubby smokes it 5 times a day to ease the pain of arthritis, Pot doesnt effect him like it would for somebody who didnt do it all the time. Stereo type of pot smokers is ridicules, Hubby is smart as a whislte.
I don't smoke pot but I dont condone it either, I rather see people do pot then crack, meth, E,and any other hard drugs, its these drugs that screw people up.
In my opinion anything grown from the ground natually can't be that bad for you.
I think if pot was legal then the police can focus more on the harsher drugs that do infact kill.

Alcohol can be made in your home and was illegal at one time. When made legal there was more of a selection of taste and content. How many people do you know that make there own alcohol? There are a few,but it doesn't taste as good as store bought and it's alot easier to buy it than make it.The same stands for marijuana.Have you ever tried to grow a plant? It's not that easy.It takes alot of time and care.I think if it was legal, the same amount of people that buy there own alchohol as opposed to make it, would buy pot.
You can make your own hamburgers, you don't see Burger King going out of buisiness!

Not only does it make even the most respectible person into a complete braindead moron, it also kills motor skills, and no one needs those type of people operating things such as cars and being responsible for lives other than their own.

Not only would it double the numbers of deaths caused by being under the influence, but the smoke is bad for your lungs.

The bottom line is it is a mind altering drug. This country already has its share of problems. To make that crap legal would only be contributing to the issue.
