i had the same prob when i was pregnant as no one explained it to me. well when you have the baby and you put your claim in for child tax credits and child benefit (you will get the forms at the hospital in your baby pack) and if you also claim income support you will get sent them automatically. although sometimes this can take a couple of weeks if it takes to long just phone your local tax office and they will put you through to the right department and then you get your tokens every 4 weeks £2.80 per token that can be put towards normal milk baby powder or fresh fruit and veg for the first year i think you will get 8 tokens a month after baby turns 1 you will get 4 a month. or at least that is what i got. good luck and congrats

There is almost always a backlog for milk tokens so when you do finnaly get them you may find a cheque enclosed for maybe 4 or 5 weeks worth plus the 4 milk tokens you are due i have had this twice and the cheque was for £46.00!

you can fill the form in on-line then down load it, make sure you get the midwife/doctor to fill out their bit or it will be sent back to you!!
should only take a couple of wks before you receive your vouchers which you can use at major supermarkets for fresh fruit/veg/milk or baby milk so much better than the old milk token system

They aren't just milk tokens anymore they are called Healthy Start Vouchers and they let you buy cows milk, formula milk but not follow on milk and fruit and veg. You are only entitled to them if you recieve JSA,Income support or you claim child tax credit (but not working famailies tax credit aswell). If you ask your local benefits agency or phone the tax credits helpline they can give you the number to set everything up. The vouchers come every 4 weeks aswell
