It sounds like he is being disrespectful of your customs. This is not a good thing because he may prove to be even more disrespectful in the future. You need to tell him that he has to have it either one way or the other, not both.
This is a time that you must tell him that you have certain customs that he must follow if he wants to spend the rest of his life with you. He cannot be allowed to change things whenever he feels like it. If you let him do this, it would be telling him that he can force you to give up being who you are.

I think you're all making a big deal out of this until you know the reason why he's making an issue of the gown. Maybe he thinks you are an exotic beauty compared to American women and he wants to show off your attributes to his family and friends. Obviously he is attracted to different aspects of Asian culture (such as the gown) or he wouldn't have fallen in love with you.
You don't say if you were born in the US and are of Asian descent, or are a recent arrival here. If the first part is true, then ask him if he were Scottish and you asked him to wear a kilt to your wedding, would he do it. If he protests and says no, then you tell him it's the same reasoning for you with the gown. If you are new to the US, explain to him you want to be an American in every way and that includes dressing in a traditional American gown.
Is there any way you two could incorporate aspects of both cultures that would please you both?

This is ridiculous. Wear whatever you want. Why do you have to "make him change his mind"? He can think whatever he wants, you wear what you want. Does he pick out your clothes on a daily basis? Also, EVERY single Chinese wedding I've ever been to has had the bride in more than one dress: one is the traditional North American gown, one the qipao, and an evening gown. So you can wear a bunch of dresses if you want!

You should wear what you want to. The wedding day is about the bride and the dress!!! Ask him to give you 10 good reasons why and if he cant ask him if he will wear a kilt and iof he says no then tell him what you wear on the day can be a surprise and the chinese gown can be worn when you depart from the party.

Let him know that it is your day too. You should be able to feel beautiful and confident in anything that you wear. You're the one who has to be immortalized in your wedding photos, why not be immortalized wearing something you want to wear.
You can incorporate Chinese culture in your wedding without you having to wear the tradition gown. It's your day too, enjoy it!

If you don't want to wear an Asian inspired dress, let him know. You should be able to choose whatever you want to wear as it's your wedding.

I personally thing this is not his decision to make. Tell him you don't want to wear it and you already have something else in mind. Or you can only wear it if he also wears it.

Respect your husband to be, but let him know hes off to a bad start if he makes you do something he is not willing to do; it shows a one sided relationship.

real simple...cancel the wedding...marriage is a 2 way street...it's both of your ways...or put him on the "highway""...he will not compromise...fire him...a "real" man will wear what you want him to...you are wearing what he wants you to...only fair
