It will look ok.....won't look any worse than it did before.....oh wait, it's HDTV....it was DESIGNED for HD, it displays HD resolution ALL the time !!
IT'S GONNA LOOK LIKE CRAP!!!
At least that's what 1/2 of my customers complain about....
And then a "select few" say something like, "Well I thought it was going to FIX my old signal and make it look BETTER"
Yeah......sure Doc, have you got that "Flying Car" Popular Science said would happen 50 years in the future?

The reception will look the same as your analog TV unless your local stations are broadcasting in a digital format off air. Your TV will then pick these stations up in HDTV. Just because you buy a HDTV doesn't mean that all your channels are in HDTV..If you really want to use your HDTV I would get DISH NETWORK because they are currently the leader in HD programming. Your cable company is another great choice for HD programming..The reason why people think you have to subscribe to a cable company for local HD is because the cable companies have a QAM scrambler at there head end that scrambles the HD signal which in tern you will need a HD receiver to decode the QAM signal to view it on your HDTV..So first scan your TV for a DTV signal to see if your local stations are broadcasting the digital off-air signals..If they are not then yes you would have to subscribe to satellite or cable TV..I hope this help..

Assuming that you already have you HDTV ordering digital cable will not get you HD quality channel's you will notice a slight decrease in the picture quality. If you live in a city then a good pair of HD rabbit ears (around $25) will bring in good HD quality if you do not have an HD tv then the quality will be much better.

Rabbits Ears? I thought they went out with myxomatosis! Seriously, rabbits ears are a waste of money because they don't provide strong enough signal and are not directional. With Digital TV signals, directivity is still important in obtaining the best signal. If you cup your ears forward does this make the sound louder? Yes! Because you just increased both gain and directivity. HDTV requires better signal than analogue so don't waste money on rabbits ears, buy a decent TV antenna so you can watch the HDTV programs in your area.
SD digital TV looks great but when you compare it to HDTV the difference is quite apparent.

The local channels will need a roof antennae, and the TV must have its own tuner. You won't be able to get other HD channels without the cable box. But the local channels will look good, as long as you have a good strong signal.
