I just wanted to know, if there are any side effects of doing both
weight training and yoga. Because Yoga basically causes relaxation of your muscles and WT tightens them..
Expecting your valuable opinion, comments, experiences on the same.

Honestly, and this is just my opinion, I have not had to do weight training since I started doing yoga 6 years ago. I guess the weight of my body is enough resistance to tone my body to a nice state. Now if you want to exceed what most people refer to a toned and want a more bulky mass, you may want to go ahead with the weight training to build the muscles larger. I think yoga can help give a great stretching routine so the muscles aren't stiff after weight training since you should always stretch after working out. But also the more weight you put on the more weight you will have to move and carry in yoga asanas, which might be just fine with you.

I normally just do yoga and bust some cardio 4-5 times a week to condition my body. But that's just me.

yoga doesn't relax your muscles it stretches them-elongates them and helps with flexibility. Yoga can help tone your muscles as well. Weight training isdefinately a way to build muscle or tone depending on how you go about it. I regularly do both along with cardio though not always on the same day. Mixing up a routine keeps it interesting. I like pilates too and often do that way more than weights because pilates strenghtens and works muscles too-give it a try!
