You shouldnt try and change who he is.

If he smoked pot when you met, you knew what you were getting yourself into.

It is illegal. All it would take is a joint under your seat in the car, or on your side of the car, when he gets pulled over, and you are busted! The police would consider since it is under your seat, it must be yours. Do not think the BF will say, no, it's mine, 'cause he probably will not. Pot smokers are not known to be careful with their pot when they are high. A few stray seeds, or papers in the car, and you might be detained by the police for a while, while they search for more.
While using, he is under the influence, and a danger to everyone around him. By you also being arrested, and while he is driving, and just in general. Pot smokers fail to see danger like the rest of us do.
Be careful, and find yourself a new BF, one that does not use.

No, but I must add that smoking pot isn't illegal where I live either. I don't think there's any harm in smoking pot, less than in drinking alcohol, it's completely ridiculous alcohol is legal in the US and smoking pot isn't. I've known several aggressive drunks and seen people drive drunk while I've never personally seen someone who was seriously affected by pot, although I know it does happen someone becomes a total pot-head, that's much rarer than people drinking becoming alcoholics.

You should leave one another. He surely does not like for you to be too bossy, and you are strongly againt pot...so you and he are quite incompatible. Find someone who shares your feelings about pot, rather than trying to change a man.

If I knew he smoked pot when I got together with him, I would not ask or expect him to give it up for me.

Well you shoulda thought about that before you got with him. If it really bothers you that much, then leave him. If would rather have pot than you, then you don't need to be with him.

Uhh, I dated a woman who knew I drank when we
started dating. We argued all the time about my
drinking, and at my worst point I was contentious.
I wasn't mean to her, and didn't do physical harm
to her. Uhh, she knew I drank when she started
seeing me. Catch my drift?

ok if he smoked back when you first met and you didnt say anything then you can't really expect him to quit. if it is bothering you how much he smokes it then tell him how you feel calmly. also if you love each other your opinion should matter and maybe you and he can find another activity to do instead of him smoking weed.
