It's not so much a threat - the sad truth is, from our point of view, is that the life wasted on pointless piety is just that - wasted. We consider this life to be our only one and not to be spent worthlessly in the hope that the next one will be an improvement.
This doesn't work though because the theist believes that this is NOT the only life, and that their lives spent in devotion is worthwhile. They therefore achieve exactly what we want for them, only it's doing different things from us. The only issue then is whether or not theists can keep their beliefs to themselves or if they can enjoy them privately. But that doesn't come down to some threat about non-conversion.

I don't think anyone should be punished for what they believe or don't believe. That's the whole problem with Christianity - it is so elitist. For Christians out there, if their lifestyle makes them happy and they don't hurt others then they have a right to it. I hardly want to become some annoying doomsdayer as eternal pain and suffering suggests that there would be a judgement, etc. You may as well just become a Christian if you are into that sh*t.

i went and tried each thing and now i understand that's incorrect and that i do no longer do it because of the fact that's undesirable for me and my happiness. yet now i do no longer choose others for the state they're in. I comprehend that we are all and sundry and christian, buddhist, despite is in straight forward terms a label you stick on your very own brow, possibly for social motives, kinfolk etc. yet interior the tip would not make you any closer to God than you would be without it. I additionally found out that to evangelise to human beings makes no sense. human beings react to love no count what the words are. that's in straight forward terms by way of cultivating the affection and wellness of your self and letting it overflow to others that we make some distinction interior the international. all of the sermonizing approximately morality, accepting Jesus etc. is man made. what's needed during this international is real openness and help of the different. yet whether you're taking that as an concept that's going to become stupid because of the fact human beings initiate questioning you will possibly be able to desire to settle for murderers and baby molesters. What i'm attempting to assert is that the venture grew to become into that faith is in everybodies heads. that's this precis element that governs us, however the international isn't bounded by making use of those techniques. they do no longer in good condition. the international is purely too complicated and surprising to in good condition right into a e book. we'd desire to be masters of ourselves and supply up hiding from existence. Sacred texts are there to help us, no longer rule us. Oh yeah sorry, i ought to no longer somewhat be answering this because of the fact i'm no longer an atheist. in straight forward terms a 'former christian'.

Most christians are ill informed, and are usually just repeating what they hear from the top brass. I thought eternal pain and suffering was the christian motiff, you'll have to come up with something more original.

Why? It might be fun, for a while, but in the end we would just be acting like they do.
Their 'loving' threats of eternal damnation for even good people who haven't been 'saved' have turned me away from the fold forever. I have no wish to be associated with them in the least.
I would hate to feel the same way about the community of atheists here.

Nope. Atheism offers no rewards, no threats, no afterlife, no judgement. And the degree of good feeling you get from atheism is limited either. Reality needs no evangelizing anyway.

not really, to be consistent as an atheist you shouldn't really care what we think
but if you must contemplate something... hmm....think of it as being worse off than a homeless person forever. Separation from God can be misunderstood... it is really separation from enjoyment of God. If there was a vote in hell who to kick out, God would be the winner every time. God makes heaven heaven and hell hell. And even today we live before God's face "Corem Deo"

I'm not atheist, and I'm not Christain....but can't we all just embrace that everyone has their beliefs instead of contemplating "horrible fates" for those who don't wish to convert to your way of thinking??

NO
Let them carry on in their delusions of a better life to come, after all it will make no difference to them when they die.
They will be dead so will have no idea they were wrong.
