The cross trainer is great as it works your whole body, so does the rowing machine. Running is good if you are a bit fit already as it is quite hard on your joints if you're not used to it.

As a beginner I would reccomend trying out some classes at the gym like Body Pump (weight training), Spinning, Body Combat, Circuit etc. It will keep you motivated and is a good way to train a bit harder and longer than you would on your own. Also, doing several different types of classes is fun, trains different parts of your body so will give you results quicker, and also helps you not to get bored doing the same thing all the time.

Conterary to popular belief som weight training is essential to your weightloss as stronger muscles increases your metabolism and also helps cope for longer when doing cardio exsercises like the rowing machine.

another important part in weightloss is nutrition, if you eat more than you burn or the same as you burn you won't loose any body fat.

Good luck

Exercise or no exercise you won't be able to lose the weight if you don't cut your food intake but we all know that's pretty hard, right? A good appetite suppressant can help you out big time but it has to be natural or you can get into serious heath problems.

I've lost 30 lbs in 2 months by using Miracle Garcinia Cambogia (FDA approved 100% natural). In my first month 20 and then 10 the second month. I was an emotional eater and these supplements changed my life. They act like an appetite suppressant so I didn't feel like eating anymore. Not hungry anymore -> Lower calories -> Lose weight, simple as that. I did no exercises just 30 minutes walks 5 days a week.

It's been 3 months since I lost the weight and I did not gain any pounds back, actually I lost another 2 lbs. If you want to take a look here is a website where you can find discounts: http://www.miraclegarciniapromo.com I got them 30% off from here. Hope this helps!

All Aerobic excise is good. So in terms of gym equipment, Tread-mills, light Rowing machine sessions, Step/climbing-machines ... anything where you are working aerobically. Do not try to do fast work or work where you are lifting a lot of weight, keep things light and do lots of it. Simply remember, more weight, less reps to build muscle mass, less weight, more reps to reduce body fat.

As stated below, if the trainers cannot tell you the reasons for the above, I'd suggest you look around for a better Gym. You should have a training session with the Trainer before you start any kind of work on your own and he/she should be able to give you a simple plan of action. Serious injury really is possible without this.

To lose weight rather than just tone up you need an aerobic excercise, if you are using the treadmill you need to be doing spells with the incline raised and spells where you are running at a good pace, bikes are also good as is the rowing machine, if its hard work, you are out of breath and sweating its working! I found doing classes as well as going to the gym really worked

Check out the weight machines. Contrary to popular belief, it won't add bulk to a woman's frame. Your muscles would be toned and leaner. You'd turn muscular only if you do weight training excessively.

When on the treadmill, just brisk-walk. Brisk-walking is much more effective than running and is better for those who just have started exercising.

My personal favourite is the rowing machine because it's fun!

Hahah, and good luck!

I lost 30 pounds after my baby was born using the eliptical and the treadmill. I alternanted doing 45-60 on each on every other night. I also done weight training and it seemed to make the weight come off faster. Good Luck!

Actually, the most effective component in fat loss is your nutrition. For example, an average person will only burn about 100 Calories per mile regardless of what speed he or she runs it. That is less than what you can replace with a candy bar. Also, weight training is very important because it increases your resting metabolic rate to burn calories on a 24 hour per day basis. Make sure that you include rest and recovery days

i agree with "lyn". if the trainers aren't that good then they shouldn't be trainers at all, and you're at the wrong gym! go to a large, well equipped gym and ask the trainers if they can give you a cardiovascular workout. this generally includes sessions on a bicyle, treadmill, rowing machine and step machine. your trainer should explain to you how all of these machines work and how they help with weight loss. a good trainer will give you a good workout routine, without you having to over exert yourself, and show you how to operate each peice of machinery so you don't injure yourself. good luck and be careful!
