Square sausages are great. We also like 'normal' round ones too, but the square ones are better for a roll or a sandwich. Lovely!

Perhaps the question should be why do we eat round sausages? Square sausages are made from sausage meat and aren't usually wrapped with any skin. If you buy your own sausage meat you can make your own shape sausages. They are just as tasty, if not tastier. Yes they also have more surface area so will cook quicker and more evenly.

Us Scots up north have link, square and round sausages and they also come in many different flavours. Square slice tastes different, cooks more evenly and is idea if you want a sausage sandwich. Yum yum. Its a pity you cant buy any, shame! Hope this answers your question. Take care!

Many years ago, before the wonderful invention "trousers" were intorduced to the primative skirt wearers, there was a lot of sausage shaped things flapping around. To avoid hilarious kitchen confusion the "clever" scots made there sausages square. Also it is much harder to make a sausage into a nice roll, they just have to stand on a bit of meat and hey presto.

we have round cookies, and we have square cookies as well. the same way, there are round sausages and square sausages.

it has got nothing to do with the taste.
just something different and unique to look at while eating.

Yes you can buy square sausage, it's called Lorne, but it is sausage meat. I'm from Yorkshire and I prefer proper shaped sausage with the skin on. Pork and Leek, yummy.

In the processing part, square shapes leave less material on the conveyor. Look at the square fish sandwiches being sold.
