Do you think a society that is multilingual due to a wave of immigrants should pursue a policy of assimilation to reach a state of relative cultural equality, or rather accept/embrace multiculturalism and multilingualism?

I am in favour of assimilation. If the immigrants wish to preserve their own culture, which is a perfectly good and proper thing to do, then they should organise and pay for this as an optional extra. A number of European countries are overwhelmingly burdened with the struggle to keep up with the sudden demands of a mutilingual society. It seems reasonable for people seeking to make a home elsewhere to do what they can to fit in, rather than require the adoptive society to find the resources to meet their demands.

I disagree with Caicos... multiculturalism isn't an expense, it's an asset! Just because someone moves to a different country doesn't mean you have to say: ok, now you have to wear this kind of clothing, eat this kind of food... but I'm not saying either that the existing culture has to conform. If we accept and embrace differences, then what will live on will be the best of both cultures.
