Whenever you are downloading an executable file, eventually you download it to install it, or maybe add to your ever large growing file library. The Run button allows you to directly download and run the software without saving the installation file to your hard disk. This is cool as most of us download, save, run and then delete, while the run button will allow for direct install.

The save button in turn let's you save the file to your hard disk. In case you want to install the same game / software to another pc, you should not be saving it.

Please note that if you are on a slow Internet connection, you should choose the option of Save and not Run.

run: running basically means that you run the setup from where the file originates from (ie. the site itself). but in layman terms, the file is actually 'saved' within your Temporary Internet Files because the computer has to get all the information first before starting to install itself. it will autorun once the download if finished.

save: saving refers to the fact that you can choose where to save the file at, such as the desktop, in a specific folder etc. once the file is done downloading, the computer caches the information and then saves the information as a file within the specified directory. the file will not autorun, but rather, you have to go to the directory where you chose to save the file and doubleclick it to start the installation process.

the run option is used for opening the file from the temp folder and save option will save where you want that file to be by giving the directory.

Well, if it is a program and you have the "run" option, it will download it into a temp directory and run it from there.

If you click "save" it will let you save it to wherever, and you have the option of running it later.
