The HDTV has to offer that feature. Cables are only supplimental to this capability.

no, it doesn't upconvert ANY signal but it usually will upconvert non-hd signals and without any special cables as the upconverting takes places inside the HD set so after it's left the cable...

no, but you can get an upconvert DVD player to do this with your old DVDs none of which are HiDef.
