Problem is that my home is soo tiny even a small dinette set would take up to much space. So my idea is to find a long skinny table to use so it can flank the wall then have 3 little stools fit neatly under it. Prblm is I can't find a table like this. The closest thing I've found is a long sofa table but it was too shrt only 26". What kinda table am I looking for? Do I just have to get one made? Where?
I can't just put in a counter ledge b/c my BF won't let me poke holes in the wall. Any suggestions?

A kitchen cabinet company can make what you need.

We had custom cabinetry done for my husbands office and needed a long narrow table at the end of the conference room. They can be any length or width you need. Ours is 16" wide and 6 ft long. Mahogany Formica finish.

It will probably be the more expensive way to go.

The drop leaf table is the best idea. Watch for estate sales, senior citizens frequently have them. They give you a dining table when needed but fold down very narrow.

I personally would find a more adaptable boyfriend.

Your best bet is either a flat desk, or a library table. Neither is particularly easy to find. However, I've included some links which will give you a general idea.

I'd suggest flea markets and antique shops, as these items have pretty much disapeared from the general furniture market. Besides, the ones I've found are pretty costly. Both the flat desk and the library table are chair height, and ideal for against the wall seating.

Hi,

apart from getting a more amenable boyfriend perhaps one way would be to buy a folding table?

These are available in various widths often 12"-15" wide, with a flap that can be pulled out and locked into position when needed.

The easiest answer, of course is to make the holes in the wall and build the type of table YOU want. Who's got to use it anyway? If your boyfriend can't come up with a better solution use the one YOU thought of.

Good luck in getting a suitable table (and boyfriend?)

p.s. the type of folding table is freely available here in Spain, but I can't help you with suppliers in the USA.

Cheers,

I too, have a small home with no dining area.....we purchased a piece of furniture, that is a coffee table, only a little wider, which pulls up and out against u while u are sitting on the couch. three people can eat at once, and when you are done, you just push it down back into its natural position. It has arms under it which allows it to come up and out. They are fairly cheap, and the result...is what your looking for...and no need for modification to your house. Check any furniture store...a store here where I live called Gabriel brothers had them for 112.00

It is called a hall table. It is tall and slender. They were used to put in an alcove in a hall under a mirror or behind and butted up to a couch. I do not know where you can get one made( I don't know where your from ) my Dad made mine for me.He does great work. But advertise in paper for some handy man that could build you one.

call around and spot which broking has tables like yours, try any shop that has unfashionable type stuff. this is extra favourite on the west coast now. the different option is to email pictures of it to sellers and ask for can provide. in case you published a image with this question, i ought to offer you some theory.

Suzie F I've got one of those tables. Under neath is where I keep my candles. Did you know if you put candles in freezer they will last much longer when you take them out and light them. Just freeze them overnight and put them away in a cupboard.
