I wish I knew. Sometimes of a night when I'm trying to sleep, my legs keep me awake. They twitch, and I just want to keep stretching them more then they will stretch. The only thing I've found is to walk around a bit half an hour or so before I go to bed. If that won't work I take a couple of nurofen. If that doesn't work then I lay in bed cursing anyone anywhere who is getting a good nights sleep!!

There is a condition called Restless Leg syndrome.
It can severely effect you in everyday life.
Most of the time it severely effects your sleep.
I would talk to your doctor about having a sleep study done to get a definite diagnosis. There a quite a few medications for restless leg syndrome finding the right one for you will take time but i would have the sleep study to make sure there is no other underlying issues that may be causing it.

I stretch my hamstrings and calves while I'm watching tv before bed for as long as I can and then before I go to sleep - I know it sounds silly - I lie with my legs up in the air for five to ten minutes.
Letting all the lactic acid drain out of my legs makes them tingly and heavy and they don't bother me for the rest of the night.
Try it and let me know if it works for you too!
p.s I also found a site called sleeplessnomore.com.au and they sell magnesium tablets which can help.
