I may just be lazy enough to not read the instructional manual but...what's the point of it? What can you do with it that is productive or that makes things easier?
If I'm at a website and click on "contact us" Outlook opens up and I just don't know what it does.

With great difficulty - anything to do with computers I find, is about stumbling through it - trial and error - and do you know what? That's what my helpdesk does - trial and error! Just press this, press that - if it gives you a warning don't do it until you know more, but I read in a computer instruction book that you should throw the instruction manual the other side of the room until you have done a bit of experimentation. Just tinker about with it - you'll be amazed what you learn in a very short space of time 'tool's and 'action' are very useful buttons and the 'undo' 'redo' buttons are very useful - infact as far as I'm concerned they're aren't enough 'undo' buttons on computers - the whole bloody desktop should be littered with undo buttons, so you can experiment to you hearts content, without actually changing anything to permanently - on your computer you'll find something called a 'restore point' now that is a mother of an undo facility which doesn't always work, but it's very useful - shame you can't have an undo button in life - oh well can't have everything I suppose - be luck - happy experimenting !

I've been using Outlook since about 1997 and I love it!

It's a great email client and I have the calendar, Address book, todo list and notes synchronized with my Blackberry.

Most "contact us" links assume that you have a POP email address that uses Outlook or similar email program rather than a web-based email address (ie Homtail, Yahoo!, Gmail) where you logon via a website to access your emails.

It opens, becasue it assumes you have an e-mail account in outlook express. If you don't then just copy & paste the e-mail address in the "To:" section to your actual e-mail to contact them.

outlook is used mostly for sending and receiving e-mail... for instructions on HOW to use it, start it up and then go to help in the menubar
