When it comes to personal change, we are all slow learners. I will assume that you know yourself well enough to accurately identify yourself as an introvert. Essentially, that means you rely on internal sources for strength. An excellent trait.
An extrovert will rely on exterior sources for support. So, as you can guess from that, extroverts find public speaking pleasant, even invigorating. And introverts are quite happy working with few, if any, people around. I recommend you pick up a copy of "Please Understand Me." I appologize, but I've forgotten the authors names. You should be able to pick it up very cheaply online. That book will give you a good overview of your personality. Do not dispair.
We are all in this world that wants to demand we be what it wants. The secret to happiness in this world is to find out what we are good at, and do that. That is what we will be most successful at doing.
Feeling inferior is painful. A counselor can help you overcome that. And finding your "best fit" will finish that nicely.
I am unfamiliar with the personality development courses you mentioned. But nothing says those courses are designed around your particular personality, or your needs. The competitive world intimidates most of us. Fear has an important function in our lives, but sometimes it gets out of hand.
My strongest recomendation is that you find a counselor you are comfortable with, then work with them to achieve what is best for you, and your happiness. No one else's -just yours.

I take it that you aren't from the USA originally. Let me just say one name Arnold Schwarzenegger! He is living proff that you can come from nowhere and become a somebody. Being a muscian and performer I have had stage fright myself. I remember in high school I decided I wanted to do an act for our annual talent show. It was a solo act of me banging on a toaster yelling how much I love toast. Before I did the act people were telling me how horrible it was going to be and how they were gunna throw rotten eggs at me. I almost threw up back stage. But I kept telling myself that I can do it! And you know what, I went up there, nervous as hell and I just did it. I was the only act with a standing ovation, that really helped to boost my overall confidence on stage. I went on to be in a professional band that has done 40+ shows after high school. So find something that you can do to go on stage and just do it! Practice it on your own, and then just do it! I'm sure your confidence will go through the roof! As for changing your personality I found scientology to help me with every aspect of my life. Just go to www.scientology.com to take a free personality test and you can go to a local church or mission to get an evaluation and a guide into a course that will suit your needs. Hope this helps!

the only answer for this is come forward and take part in seminars and presentations, dont worry about the mistakes u do, u will over come it once u into it. i had the same problem two years ago now i'm addicted to it and love to participate in these things... u gonna feel ur heart beat at the first time ur on the stage then it will dispear.... prepare urself perfectly before, that will really help u.... stand infront of a mirror and pratice it until ur perfcet.... nothing is impossible.... be positve... dont count this as a problem any more, take it as a dare on urself...

any sort of depression can be tide over by faith in GOD and sincere prayer.
Your prayer is from your heart. Further You must have to understood the fact that God is present in our heart. This can be realised in meditation. Further we are the creation of our own destiny. As per Hindu sacred religion, we carry all good and bad deeds life after life. There is no end unless we pray for unification of self with the divineliness.
Hence there is always a possible way to complete mergence with God in this life by a simple and wonderful meditation

Do meditation daily for half an hour in the morning and evening for six to nine months under the guidance of a spiritual teacher. There would be a complete transformation in your personality.

You need an alter ego, you need to pretend to be somebody else, like Jim Carey, hes not always funny, hes quit sensitive and shy but he has this way to block it oput and be someone else.
I did this on Stage and it really worked well
