This is hilarious because I get in a reverse situation with my husband. Basically Yes you are blocking out unwanted noise, I call it selective Deafness!!!!!LOL

Did you ever see any of the Charlie Brown specials? When the teacher talks, all you hear is this "wah wahwaaahhhh wah" sound. THATS the sound of MY girlfriend talking.....

My bf recently admitted to me that this happens to him too. It is just selective hearing. If you think you are missing something just turn the volume up. :)
