If I swim for half an hour 5 times a week how long will it take before i physically notice a difference in my body such as toned?

So long as you are working quite hard for the 30 minutes daily you will begin to see improvement in around 4 weeks. It depends exactly how out of shape you are to begin with.

Add some light weight training 3 times a week for faster and more noticeable results!

I do not think that Half an hour a day is sufficient because you are bearly working the muscles before you stop!!!

If you did the whole 2 and a half hours in one go or even two one hour sessions you will probably see a difference in about 6-8 weeks depending on a balanced diet and whether you are keeping up on other activities such as walking.
