Ok I'll keep this brief and to the point. I started speaking to a girl after she messaged me on an online dating site. I will profess to not being brilliant with women otherwise I wouldn't be on there. We then started chatting on MSN before progressing to texting and finally phoning each other every day. We had even arranged to meet up this weekend only for her to call it off at the last minute saying she had childcare issues. She has stopped texting me now and when I went to phone earlier I found that she had gone out and her brother was babysitting. In light of thisI am ready to give this up as a bad job although will admit to being very disappointed. I'm taking it that I've interpreted her signals or lack of them correctly. Just looking for other people's opinions really?

Just to clarify something when I stated I'm not brilliant with women I meant the asking out part rather than speaking socially

ouch.. don't worry I'm sure 90% of guys can relate to this. While men are often stereotyped to be pimps or dogs women can actually be worse. I'm sure she was talking to another guy or two at least at the same time. She was waiting for something better in her eyes to come along and it got in the way of the plans she had with you. I suggest to quit contacting her and focusing on someone else. IF she just got cold feet maybe or she wasn't blowing you off it at least shows you'll put your foot down on her BS and she may come back around. IF she does be cautious. But also cutting off contact will save yourself some dignity too so you don't look desperate and inflating her ego "wow I'm dating a new guy and now I have a fall-back guy too".
CG - if something more "important" came up it just takes a phone call. Hell I give a phone call if i'm running a few minutes late for a date let alone not showing up all together. lol

Why not ask her outright what she wants or feels.
If you get a not interested, just move on and keep looking.
I believe that there is someone out there for everyone, just don't try too hard.
I could never understand that when I was single I couldn't seem to attract anyone and now I'm married women seem interested, I think this is down to our aura.
It shines bright when we are happy and goes dull when we are down and chasing, I'm sure you are a nice bloke, so stop trying and go out with your mates not with the intention of pulling but just to have a laugh, you never know what a nice surprise you will get.
Good luck!

yes unfortunately it does sound like shes given you the brush off. Why else would she lie to you? Im sure the fact that you say you're not brilliant with women influenced her decision in any way - but possible the thoughts of actually going through with a meeting freaked her out and she realised shes not up for that kind of challenge!
I wouldnt ring her or contact her anymore - if she wants you - she knows how to contact you.
Sorry you've been burned this way - but it happens to the best of us and theres plenty more women out there!
xx

she may have simply got cold feet at last minute, thinking ' oh god i dont know him at all what have i done?'!
so she may get back in touch, in which case dont push for meeting up, just keep it cool.
but... it could be a subtle brush off.
so keep your options open.
btw, if you think you're no good with women, what make syou think you'll meet a nice person and sustain a rleationship just because you met over the net?? you'll either get walked over or give the impression that the females on there are inferior in soem way if you're not careful!
if i were you i'd practice going out with your mates, taking assertiveness&confidence classes etc.
good luck, be careful!

Hi ,
Brush off!! If you are going to contact girls via chat rooms emails txts etc you should get used to this kind of behaviour. Not everyone is honest and reliable like yourself and even more so were computer dating applies try and be a little more confident and approach girls you do find attractive rather than hide behind your computer. GOOD LUCK.xx

my opinion is that she frightnend not by you but the thought of meeting someone of the internet it's scary buisness really because even if you have emailed her your picture she does'nt really know who she will be meeting after all you do hear about meeting people of the internet but let me tell you this my brother meet this girl called anne on the internet and they got married last august and there still happliy married so don't give up on her and reasure her or tell her to bring a friend on the first meeting she might feel a bit more comfortable

Don't jump to conclusions. She might be plain busy or something more important came up. Give her some time and then call her back in a couple of days. Don't rush things too soon.

Don't make any more moves. This could be a brush off, but this could also be a case of genunine coincedence. Let her get into contact with you. If she doesn't, take it as a hint and move on.

These things are always difficult when you can't speak to the person and find out for definite, but from what you've said, personally, I'd let it drop and move on.
